Avengers: Endgame is finally here, which means we can now know exactly what happens with the mightiest heroes after the heartbreaking end of Infinity War. It’s an emotional adventure, and full of action. It’s all you expect and much more, which makes it absolutely worth seeing in cinemas as soon as possible!
But, Endgame is also controversial with its choices, and some diehard fans might not accept everything writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have imagined, under the supervision of the Russo brothers and Kevin Feige.
WARNING – SPOILER FOLLOWS.
AVENGERS: ENDGAME is set after Thanos’ catastrophic use of the Infinity Stones randomly wiped out half of the earth’s population in Avengers: Infinity War. Those left behind are desperate to do something — anything — to bring back their lost loved ones. But after an initial attempt — with extra help from Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) — creates more problems than solutions, the grieving, purposeless Avengers think all hope is lost. They’re re-energized by the eventual reappearance of Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), who was stuck in the quantum realm during the fight on Wakanda. He believes there could be a way to reverse Thanos’ deadly snap.
It takes a while to gather the squad — some of whom have changed dramatically — but eventually Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Ant-Man team up for one last life-or-death mission to outsmart Thanos (Josh Brolin) and save the universe.
Though some die-hard Avengers fan may not like or accept what happened at the climax for Captain America, Iron Man and Black Widow.
Just so you know this is what happens:
- Steve – Captain America would go back to drop off the Infinity Stones they had collected from the past, and that he wouldn’t return. Instead, he would get married to Peggy and grow old. That old Steve would then show up on the bench by the lake in the future to bring his shield to Sam, and to explain what happened. This was something as a die-hard Captain America fan I found hard to accept. I just could not see anyone else doing justice to his shield the way he did and no one could carry his character as good as he did, especially not Sam, I don’t find his character powerful enough to carry Captain America’s legacy.
- Iron Man – Tony Stark dies at the end of Avengers: Endgame after stealing the Infinity Stones back from Thanos and using them to wipe out the Mad Titan and his entire army with a single Snap. The gamma radiation released when he uses the stones is what kills Tony, and he pretty much dies right there on the spot.
Thankfully, Tony gets a powerful sendoff with a funeral that takes up most of Avengers: Endgame’s epilogue. Rest in peace Iron Man … at least until Marvel decides to bring the hero back in a few years.
- Black Widow – Black Widow makes the ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame, flinging herself off that cliff in Vormir so the Avengers can get the Soul Stone and use it to undo the Snap. It’s a powerful moment where there’s an epic fight between who decides to give up their life, Hawkeye fights hard with the Black widow, but she traps him and pays the ultimate sacrifice by giving up her life so he can take the soul stone to the Avengers.
Though I found the Avengers: Endgame the best and epic movie ever, the roles of Thor and Hulk were a major disappointment for me. Firstly to see such a Godly image as Thor growing all out of shape, eating pizza and playing video games was not something I wanted to see him as.
What I always loved about the Hulk was his wild and strong image, but at the end war, they made him a big green softie with a new version of the character that fuses Hulk’s strength and green body with Banner’s intellect. By the end of the movie, the only thing that’s changed is that one of Hulk’s arms is damaged from using the Infinity Gauntlet to undo the Snap.
The scene that I loved and gave me epic goosebumps was when all everyone unites during the war with Thanos, and Captain America screams out his legendary dialogue “Avengers Assemble!!” that moment I died! It was an epic scene not to be missed!!
And also the movie shows off all Girl power, during the war where all the females get together for an epic battle scene! Loved it!
It was a grand movie with a good send-off for the characters that end their role here. And definitely a must watch for all the Avengers fan out there, this is one of the best I’ve watched!
Note: Don’t wait for the end credits, there isn’t any for this movie.
