There’s a particular kind of September in Dubai that doesn’t get talked about enough. It isn’t autumn, not really; the heat hasn’t actually left; it’s just started loosening its grip a little. The evenings feel slightly more forgiving. You can walk from the car to a café without your outfit wilting halfway there. It’s not a season of layers in the way people elsewhere mean it- no wool, no coats- but it is a season of transition, and I’ve been thinking about how to dress for that shift without pretending I live somewhere it actually gets cold.
This is where DVF has been surprising me lately. Everyone thinks of the wrap dress first, and fair enough, but their fall edit this year leaned into silk and viscose pieces that genuinely make sense for our version of “cooling down.” Fluid, breathable, still elevated. So here’s what I’ve been styling for these in-between weeks.

Mulberry Silk Top + Verick Pants
A full silk look, sleeveless and relaxed with a draped scarf neckline, paired with wide flowing silk pants. Breathes properly in our heat while still photographing as one complete outfit.

Perfect Wrap Top
The most accessible piece on this list, and the most wearable for an ordinary day. Classic collar, V neckline, cropped length, a true wrap closure. A genuine capsule wardrobe staple.
Modest styling tip: pair with cream trousers and a shoulder blazer with pumps for an executive look, or jeans and sneaker pumps for something more playful.
Saskia Dress
Silk satin, a clean column silhouette, a high funnel neckline with an asymmetric draped scarf tie falling to the floor. The statement piece of the edit.
Modest styling tip: keep it simple, a black blazer worn loose over the shoulders, gold accessories, black cocktail pumps, for a rich, quietly luxurious finish.
Veda Dress
Silk georgette, a slip silhouette, adjustable straps, a low scoop back, a floor length hem with a side train. Romantic, feminine, unapologetically fluid.
Modest styling tip: cover with a long black kimono in chiffon or georgette, or wear over an abaya for a GCC-inspired take. Add vintage sunglasses and black pointed pumps.
Alima Dress
Stretch cotton poplin, a collar neckline, short structured sleeves, a button front, and flattering waist pleats with smocking along the back waistline. Midi length. Genuinely one of the most breathable fabrics on this whole list, cotton always earns its place in a Dubai transitional wardrobe.
Modest styling tip: wear as is for a casual or business casual look, or layer with a denim jacket, sneaker pumps, and a sporty handbag to shift it into a sportier, off-duty look.
If there’s one thing transitional dressing teaches us, it’s how to move with the season instead of fighting it. Fashion should adapt the way weather does, gradually, comfortably, without losing its sense of style. Comfort will always come first for me, but that’s never meant to mean giving up how a good outfit makes you feel.
