Birthday Reflections: Lessons, Growth, and Finding Calm in the Year Ahead

A couple of days ago, I celebrated my birthday, and while I’m a little late sharing this, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year I’ve had. This past year has been filled with lessons, growth, and meaningful moments, reminding me of the importance of prioritizing myself, nurturing my calm, and approaching life with intention.

This year, I faced moments that tested my patience, my focus, and how I spend my energy. I learned the value of slowing down and being intentional about what I allow into my life. One of the biggest changes has been toning down my influencing work, focusing only on collaborations and brands that truly add value. I still enjoy movies and media, but I now choose content and projects that inspire growth, feed my mind, and bring positivity. You become what you consume, and I want my creative work and what I take in to support my well-being and clarity.

A simple movie gave me a beautiful perspective this year. The Big Year follows three people trying to see as many bird species as possible in a year, only to discover that the joy is not in beating others, but in appreciating the journey, the connections, and the simple blessings along the way. This reminded me to shift from a race mindset to one of gratitude, connection, and purpose.

On a positive note, this year also brought some exciting milestones. I had the honor of working on Modest Fashion Week in April and October, collaborating with the Singapore Food Festival, and other meaningful collaborations with brands and projects I truly value. These experiences were deeply rewarding and reminded me how fulfilling it is to take on work that adds value, resonates with my audience, and aligns with my creative vision. I am looking forward to taking on even bigger and more impactful projects in the coming year.

I’ve also learned the importance of prioritizing myself and my well-being. This year, I’ve been making space for reflection, self-care, and quiet routines that help me feel more grounded and calm. Nurturing calm and protecting your energy is not selfish; it is essential.

Looking ahead, this coming year will be all about me, my health, and building calm. I want to continue cultivating habits that reduce anxiety, bring balance, and support both my mental and physical well-being.

As I reflect, here are some small tips that have helped me, and that I hope can inspire you too:

  • Be selective with what you consume, whether it is media, work, or surroundings. Focus on what uplifts and nourishes your mind.
  • Make space for calm through journaling, mindfulness, or quiet reflection.
  • Prioritize your health and energy. Small daily routines can make a big impact.
  • Set gentle boundaries to protect your peace.
  • Focus on building a better version of yourself gradually, being kind and patient along the way.

This birthday, I feel grateful for the lessons, the growth, and the meaningful work I’ve done this year. Calm, balance, and intentional living have become my focus, and I hope my reflections encourage you to take care of yourself, prioritize what truly matters, and approach the year ahead with patience, positivity, and a sense of calm.

This year, I am choosing calm over chaos, growth over pressure, and gratitude over comparison.💖
