From Corporate Cubicle to Award-Winning Modest Fashion & Film Blogger: My WFFA Journey

Wow, still feels surreal! Two weeks ago, I had the incredible honor of winning the Career Award at the prestigious World Fashion Festival Awards (WFFA) Season 6 in Dubai!

This award truly meant the world to me. It was the culmination of a long and sometimes bumpy journey. Transitioning from the corporate world to the exciting yet unpredictable world of social media and Instagram wasn’t easy. There were countless doubts, late nights, and moments of feeling utterly lost. But through it all, my passion for fashion and film never wavered.

Winning this award was a giant validation of that passion. It meant the world to know that my work, combining my love for fashion with the storytelling power of film, resonated with others. It’s a reminder that taking a leap of faith and chasing your dreams, no matter how crazy they may seem, can truly pay off.

As Nelson Mandela said, “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” There will be setbacks and moments of self-doubt on your own creative journey. But remember, dear reader, to hold onto your passion and keep pushing forward. The world needs your unique voice and perspective.

This award wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my rock and support system, my incredible husband. My family and followers have also been my cheerleaders every step of the way, and their encouragement means the world to me.

As a brown girl navigating the social media world, the journey wasn’t always smooth. But I had a fire in my belly โ€“ a mission to promote modest fashion and celebrate movies through my platforms. I’m eternally grateful for the brands who believed in me, and who took a chance and collaborated with me. This award is a testament to the power of inclusivity, a message that quality of work matters more than appearances.

I’m incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity, and I’m so glad some institutions and brands recognize individuals for the magic they create, not just how they look. This award is for all the dreamers out there, especially the women of color who are making a difference. We are seen, we are heard, and we are unstoppable!

P.S. Huge thanks to the WFFA team for this incredible honor! It was an unforgettable experience, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
